TCF Canada

The TCF Canada (Test de Connaissance du Français) is a French language proficiency test officially recognized by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) for immigration and Canadian citizenship. It evaluates a candidate’s ability to use French in everyday, workplace, and academic contexts.

Developed by France Éducation international, TCF Canada is an alternative to TEF Canada and is designed specifically for those applying to Canadian immigration streams that reward French language ability.

What is TCF Canada?

TCF Canada assesses the four key language skills:

  • Listening (Compréhension orale)
  • Reading (Compréhension écrite)
  • Speaking (Expression orale)
  • Writing (Expression écrite)

It follows a structure similar to TEF Canada and is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).
